Dubbed an “urban Western”, Dogman takes place in an Italian suburb somewhere between metropolis and wild nature. Marcello (Marcello Fonte), a small and gentle dog groomer, finds himself involved in a dangerous relationship of subjugation with Simone (Edoardo Pesce), a former violent boxer who terrorizes the entire neighborhood. In an effort to reaffirm his dignity, Marcello submits to an unexpected act of vengeance. Two-time Cannes Grand Prize of the Jury winner Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah, 2008) builds up unrelenting tension with a sardonic sense of humor, whereas Marcello Fonte gives an excellent performance as the underdog who turns into a badass out of honor, friendship, and ultimately… fear. Marcello Fonte will meet the audience at the screening.
