Thirteen-year-old Giuseppe vanishes. In his small Sicilian village, everyone knows he is kidnapped by the Mafia thugs in the hope of silencing his informant father. Yet only his little girlfriend Luna refuses to accept his mysterious disappearance. Rebelling against her unsympathetic mother and the detached community, she descends into the dark world through the enigmatic entrance from the lake in a desperate search of her lover. Inspired by the 1993 real-life abduction case, Grassadonia and Piazza invent Luna in this sad romantic story, unfolded in a surrealistic filmic space between cruel reality and ghostly fantasy.
